John F. Heeckt

Former President and Founding Partner

John retired from Financial Sources, Inc. on December 31, 2018, and is no longer affiliated with Commonwealth or FINRA.

John's long, successful career in financial planning began when he was a high-school teacher in the late 1970s. Frustrated by the woeful lack of practical financial knowledge available to young people during their formal education, he became an avid student of financial planning in order to arm his students with these valuable life skills.

This research and teaching project culminated in a series of educational seminars, which was picked up by the AT&T Learning Network—and gained him a global audience and reputation more than a decade before anyone had even heard of the Internet.

With this momentum, John left behind the world of academia, spending some crucial years honing his knowledge and skills while serving in executive positions for national financial services firms.

Eventually recognizing that his clients desired a level of personal involvement that working for these larger firms made impossible, John founded Financial Sources, Inc., in 1986.

John holds an undergraduate degree in political science and economics, and a master's degree in education with a specialty in economics, both from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

Forrest O'Brien

Partner and Chief Portfolio Officer

Involved in financial planning and asset management for almost four decades, Forrest is a seasoned financial executive.

Before becoming a partner in Financial Sources, Inc., he was vice president of finance and administration and treasurer of a large international firm. His prior positions have also included director, vice president, treasurer, and CFO for other international corporations.

Forrest's education achievements include receiving a BA and BS in economics with a dual major in mathematics, law and a minor concentration in engineering from Ohio Northern University. He also earned an MBA in finance and accounting from Farleigh Dickinson University.

Michael Hitcho, Jr.

Financial Consultant

Michael is a professional consultant who provides investment advice to individuals ages 55 and over.

As a wealth manager, he helps his clients maximize returns while limiting risk exposure. His practice specializes in families with assets of $200k to $2 million.

Michael is well known in the Lehigh Valley area for his expertise in designing retirement strategies, and he has published numerous articles on financial planning in national media.

His specialties include reducing or eliminating taxes on social security benefits and estates and increasing wealth through careful asset selection and management.

Charlie McKelvey

Financial Advisor and Portfolio Manager

Charlie has five years of experience on Wall Street, specializing in brokerage and mutual fund accounts, along with 12 years of experience managing variable annuities and life insurance.

In addition to this industry experience, Charlie served as a member of the Life Office Management Association (LOMA) Equity Products and Annuity Committee for five years. He has also earned his life and health insurance licenses and FINRA Series 4, 6, 7, 24, 26, 53, and 63 securities registrations.

Charlie graduated magna cum laude from Muhlenberg College with a bachelor's degree in business management. He is currently pursuing the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification.


Andrea Davies

Office Manager

Andrea has more than 25 years of experience as an administrative assistant and has earned the Certified Professional Secretary designation from Professional Secretaries International.

Her experience encompasses the areas of Human Resources, Financial Planning Support, Marketing and Sales, and Customer Service.

She has worked closely with management to plan training seminars, create job descriptions, and company policies.   Her people insight has been a valuable tool in her work in Human Resources; and has earned respect for her confidentiality.  Her creative flair has led her to design newsletters, presentations, and brochures; as well as hospitality affairs.   Her commitment to excellence and her friendly demeanor are two of her most prized assets.
